In Pictures: Shock in Phnom Penh as electrical fire destroys power lines

Residents were faced with a nightmarish vista this morning when they woke up to find powerlines ablaze.

The fire took place at 4:10 am on the 20th October 2022, along National Road 2 in Sangkat Chak Angre Leu, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.

According to sources at the scene, they heard an loud explosion from the light box next to a lamp post

The powerlines then caught ablaze At that time with multiple fires.

Villagers attempted to quell the blaze, but were forced to call for aid from authorities who sent a fire truck to to extinguish the fire.

Investigators are now attempting to divine the cause of the conflagration.
